Tracking the Soul With An Astrology of Consciousness

Christ and a cockroach born under the manger at the time of Christ’s birth would share the same birthchart, yet an interpretation of these two identical charts must be vastly different.  How you experience your birthchart depends not only upon the chart, but also the consciousness that you bring to it.  This lecture, based on the author’s book of the same name, will discuss how consciousness can be integrated into your exploration of the birthchart, through a synthesis of astrology and the chakra system.

Healing the Astrological Shadow

According the pre-eminent psychologist, Carl Jung, the shadow is the guardian of the threshold to the soul’s journey toward wholeness.  In this lecture, we will explore the shadow from an astrological perspective, discussing where and how it appears in the houses, signs, and planetary dynamics of the birthchart, and how you can track your relationship to it through a lifetime of experience.

Why Astrology Is Not a Science

Many in the astrological community seek acceptance by the scientific world.  But there are sound philosophical reasons why astrology cannot rightfully be considered a science, and should more accurately be understood as a language of symbolic logic. As a symbolic language, astrology is a way of knowing different than and complementary to science. This lecture will explore this vision of astrology, and outline the advantages to be had in presenting ourselves in this way.

Tracking the Soul Nominated for Cover Design Award

Ancient Tower Press's latest book, Tracking the Soul With An Astrology of Consciousness, was recently nominated as a Finalist for the 2009 Da Vinci Eye Award. Results to be announced during the week of April 13.

The Da Vinci is awarded each year by Hopewell Publications (sponsor of the Eric Hoffer Awards) to titles with superior cover art.  Cover art is judged on both content and style.

The cover for Tracking the Soul was designed by Anne Marie Forrester, a graphic artist in Minneapolis, MN.  Anne Marie’s work can be seen at her web site.  Anne Marie has been a professional artist and illustrator for nearly 25 years, including several years work as cover design artist for Llewellyn Publications.  Throughout all her work is a love of world mythology, mysticism, and spiritual symbolism.

Tracking the Soul is also registered for the Eric Hoffer Award, a contest to honor extraordinary books by independent publishers.  The award is named after Eric Hoffer, a self-taught working class philosopher in the tradition of Montaigne and Thomas Paine.

Welcome to Circling the Ancient Tower Blog

 

Circling the Ancient Tower is meant to be an interactive forum for dialog between readers of Ancient Tower Press books and their authors.

At the moment, all Ancient Tower Press books are written by me, Joe Landwehr, but my vision is broad enough to encompass the possibility that one day there may be others. I will keep you abreast of the development of this possibility and other ATP News in my blog, along with news of upcoming Author appearances at book-signings, lectures and workshops, and occasionally news of interest to Fair Trade Publishing advocates.

Aside from getting my books out into the world, Ancient Tower Press is committed to promoting wherever possible a more equitable book trade that returns the author to his or her rightful place at the center of the process.
